about your trip.

it beings with an idea!

I fell in love from the first time I stepped off the plane. My first trip to the Virgin Islands was only to St. John, however, I knew I needed to see more.  I camped at Cinnamon Bay, I hiked, explored, and swam with sea turtles.  The following year I explored a but further and made it to Jost Van Dyke in the BVI.  I made some great friends whom I always visit when on island.

I love sharing my islands with friends and family and I knew I wanted to do something special for my 40th birthday.  The thought of spending this time in a place I love with those I care about and love made perfect sense.  Thus, and idea was born.

Please join us in the Islands for my 40th birthday. We will be visiting beach bars, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, dancing on the beach, jumping off the Willy T, and who knows where else the tide will take us.

adventure is calling, how will you answer?

the basics.

Bareboat Charter: This is a bareboat charter.  What that means is there will not be any paid crew onboard.  Bruce and I will run the boat.  We will provision the boat.  We all may participate in meal prep and clean up.  We have done this a few times in the Virgin Islands now and it works amazingly.  We can purchase the food we want, we can sail where we want, and most importanly, we can have

Charter Dates: February 22 - March 9, 2024.

Charter Fees: See the Finances page

Trip Segments: The trip will be divided into two segments, or week. This will allow people to participate for one week or two weeks.

Week 1, Feb 22nd - Mar 1st.

Week 2, Mar 1st - Mar 9th.

Sleep Aboard, Week 1: The night before the charter, February 21st, I will be flying to the islands with Bruce and my parents.  We will put all of the provisions away and sleep aboard the boat before the charter starts the next day.  Any Week 1 crew who wants to join us for the 21st is welcome to.  The charter company charges an additional $75/person for sleeping aboard before the charter starts.

Stay on Land, Week 2: After checking the boat in on March 9th, Bruce, my parents, and I will be spending the night at the Wyndham Tortola before flying home on March 10th. While it is possible to check the boat in and fly home the same day, it adds an extra level of stress. Week 2 crew are welcome to join for a final night on land with us. You will handle your hotel reservation. If anyone is planning to fly out of St. Thomas, I do not recommend staying on Tortola for an extra night. Talk to me about your travel plans and we can discuss further.

Provisions: This is a bareboat charter and as such we will be provisioning the boat before we arrive. Provisions will be delivered to the boat on Feb 21st and the pre-arrival crew will put them away on. I will add the estimated amount for provisions to the Finances page.

Travel Recommendations:
Review the Travel Options Page for info on flights, taxis, ferries, etc.

Crew: Once the crew is confirmed I will be updating the Crew page. Here you will be able to see who your fellow crew members are for your time on Ndoto.  Each crew member is encouraged to be as involved with sailing the boat as they want to or are comfortable.

Meals: There will be a combination of eating on the boat and on land.  Planned meals out will be posted on the itinerary page.
